Hey Guys

Just curious to know the Abbasid collectors. Abbasids are one of the dynasties that I am collecting alot and have many rare coins of them. Love to share with others who also collect Abbasids.

Once upon a time, I collected 'Abbasid coppers. The coin below was perhaps the rarest piece in my collection, an unusual fals of Chinese-style fabric with center hole, Sijistan mint, AH 151 (AD 768), citing the future caliph al-Mahdi as heir and governor of the east. One of a very few known and unpublished with this countermark, which seems to be the name of a later governor (though unread).

Wow kushanshah I am so impressed . It is indeed very rare I have not seen this style of copper coin for abbasid before. I did not even know they minted Chinese style coins. But I bet you this most likely minted after battle of Talas River where abbasid and Tang had a war. It has been said some Chinese stuff made it into middle east such as paper making as result of the war and I bet Chinese style coins could have been one of that.

My rarest abbasid is the third one from the top. I won that in an CNG auction and was one of the most expensive coins I paid for. This is minted only couple years to celebrate the Shia heir to Al-Mamun who was shia imam ali ibn musa and later on was poisoned by Al-Mamun.
