Do most of you leave holes, generally key and semi-key dates, while waiting to obtain these coins, or do you fill it with a copy knowing it may be a long time before you get that particular coin?

I'd rather leave the hole open.

I understand the question though because I HATE seeing those empty holes in my albums!

I would never substitute a real coin with a copy even if I never got the coin to put in the hole. I have always felt like as long as people keep buying these stupid things the longer they will keep making them, if I can convince just one person not to buy them and then they convince one other person and so on and so on maybe one day we won't have to even look at all these fake copies

I would much rather have the hole. Far better to have something to strive for rather than a nasty substitute. When you first start collecting, there are plenty of holes. You should be less concerned the more holes are filled, instead of more concerned.

I leave the hole empty unless I have it. What's worse is when some of your coins are slabbed and therefore you can't fill the holes. :( Then I use the counterfeits to fill it in the holes.

Got to leave the empty spot empty. That forces me to go out looking for that coin. If there was something in a spot just to fill it, I know it is there but then there is no great urge to fill that spot with the real thing.

I leave the hole. It is the best motivator to get the proper coin for the hole!
