2000 Canadian Nickels - Nothing - Coin Community Forum

Buizel10 New Member Canada 6 Posts	Posted 11/07/2018 10:17 pm Well, yesterday I went to my local green coloured large Canadian bank and got a box of nickels. The usual. Usually I'd get the nickels in two seperate boxes of dimes, filled with nickels. Today however, it was an actual box of nickels. Inside filled were Bank of Canada marked rolls. I opened every single one. Not even a single pre-2000 nickel. I ended up just dumping every single nickel at the local credit union. Has anyone had this happen to them, but not have every coin be fresh out of the mint like I've had in previous boxes? And if you are Canadian, in the Vancouver BC area and dump at this large green bank named after Toronto - please tell me so we don't conflict. Report this Post to the Staff

If they are machine wrapped, then from my experience some 5 years ago (I don't roll hunt anymore), all of the coins in there would be the plated type ie. post-2000. Those are circulated coins that have had the non-plated stuff sorted out by ARP (Alloy Recovery Program) then re-rolled by machine. I think it's quite pointless to roll hunt for old stuff in Canada due to the Mint's ARP program going full force. I don't think you'll even find these post-2000 coins anymore: 2000 no P, 2001 no P, and 2006 cupronickel - I don't see them in circulation at all. Report this Post to the Staff
