Slabbed banknotes are getting increasingly popular. Especially in the US and often command a premium price. I have seen some serious errors recently by grading companies. This is intended to be a thread where those errors are posted. This note is listed as Pick 7s (1922-59) specimen The DATE 15/9/60 written on the note clearly indicates it is a Pick 10a specimen / color trial Pick 10a note: Actual Pick 7s (1922-59) specimen. Large punch hole cancels and stamps were used prior to 1950 for cancels of this series. (not punched specimen cancels) This issued note is attributed as a specimen note. It clearly isn't. Actual specimen note: I'll have to look for a scan of a note I bought last year that was slabbed and I considered cutting it out due to a serious attribution error. I've left it in its holder for the meantime. Edited by xtraelv 11/08/2018 8:06 pm

This graded note is identified as Russia p234 but is obviously Transnistria p3.

Mis-attributed as a Pick 13a 1 Ringgit note (5 Ringgit = Pick 14a) Supposedly the same note:

Attributed as a Anderson-Regan Particularly embarrassing mistake since the courtesy autograph is that of Angela Marie Buchanan. So clearly a Buchanan-Regan

I got the attribution wrong in my first post as well. It is actually a colour trail of the Pick 10b without the overprint. Issued note Pick 10b specimen with overprint The Pick 10a uses an older version and blocks out the printed titles. There are at least 3 subtypes of Pick 10a which are not listed in Krause. "The Banknote book" by Owen Linzmayer has the most up-to-date chapter on the early Samoan Banknote issues. Graded Pick 10b note:

Another interesting grading company mistake. A 1 pound note attributed as a 10 pound note.

Incorrectly attributed as: (Without overprint).
It says "without imprint" and refers to the fact that the printers name is not printed on the note. It does not say "without overprint".
