After I stopped laughing when I saw this listing... I figured I would ask those here who might have the 2017 Canada 150 loon with the extra design elements, like a "stripe" running diagonally on the lighthouse. A few months ago, I cracked one roll, and found an example... I then have since found more, averaging about one per roll. Then this listing popped up - and I saved it here in case it gets removed from ebay. https://www.ebay.ca/itm/2017-1-doll...142938347716 I am planning to write it up in my column in the CN Journal... but I thought heck, why not poll the collectors now. Has anyone else found one? Has anyone else even looked at any of their rolls yet? I am trying to establish how uncommon, or common, this variety is... The asking price is kind of as rare as the error

I'm guessing this one should be called the "RAPUNZEL" error.

So far, in cracking Canada 150 loon rolls, I am only finding one per roll...

Here are my photos... The feature is raised and uniform in its thickness - that is, it had to be incuse on the working die. This is clearly a design element change (meaning, a working die was different). The "stripe" and lighthouse is very similar to the one at Heart's Content, on the Avalon Peninsula of Newfoundland. https://www.pc.gc.ca/apps/dfhd/page...spx?id=15052 Or, the Ramea Islands lighthouse in Newfoundland. http://lighthousefriends.com/light.asp?ID=1270 That said, the stripe crosses over a window recess in the lighthouse, so it could be just a rope or something? I seriously doubt it is a die break, it is way too smooth and linear. Discovered by a collector on Numicanada back in late April of 2017. I am curious if anyone here has opened their loon 2017 rolls, and if they have found any of these? So far, I am finding about one per roll. I don't want to make, and write, any assumptions, until I have a better idea what this is... Both types side by side: The 'plain" lighthouse: The 'striped' lighthouse

Do you mean true die varieties (different working dies)? Or minor errors like die chips?

yes but you will see them very easy if you look. I just figured the members here would already know these new varieties. these are on the 150 year loonie. the toonies I think 2 them are from wear. the other 2 are a die change. there easy to see. just check your rolls closely. you will see them.

Interesting varieties! Thanks for sharing!
@SPP-Ottawa, the rolls you found this variety are special wrapped, or just plain wrapped?

Bit of both... although, it is tough to crack a special wrapped roll when it costs almost double face value...

Has anyone noticed the difference in the steps at the base of the lighthouse? There seems to be quite a few with incomplete steps.
