I finally took my big jar of pennies to the coinstar after studying every one of them for the most minuscule error. Then I had to take the paper receipt over to a cashier so she could give me $17.25, which of course would mean receiving two coins. They were a spitting horse quarter, and the weirdest penny I've ever seen in person. Obviously beat up, at first I thought the obverse was just scraped totally away. But then I noticed that the date was fine, and realized I needed to get home and look at it through magnification.
Well as you can see, the reverse looks like one of those colorblindness tests, with an array of different colored dots, and the obverse is like a marble of gold, caramel, and turquoise swirls and blobs. If you look at it straight on, the bust is barely visible, like Predator. But pivot it slightly and BAM, there's Abe. Any idea what happened with this coin?

Just Post Strike Damage ( PSD), not an error. It's a spender.

Weighs 3.10g. Why do you think it's PSD?

I realized it reminded me of a Canadian one cent I have that looks like wood grain so I looked this up and it (might?) be attributable to an improper alloy mix. AND damage. In other words, the blue corrosion could have taken place worst on the spots/swirls with 'this' alloy versus 'that.' No?
