What happened on the reverse of this 42 nickel?

Post-Mint damage or possible lamination and post mint.

Opinions welcomed.

Looks like something got stuck on the anvil die.
A clash is showing through also on the obverse.
Trying to make out that pattern on the reverse (horizontal)
through the dome and into the fields. (to grandmothers house we go:)
Just hit me, sorry.

There are a number of things visible on this coin. I can't tell you the order of occurrence though.

There is evidence of there being a lamination peel that has been moved and pressed back down onto the surface of the coin. There is evidence of other laminations beginning to peel.

The underlying cause would not have been at the moment of strike, or that raised portion would have been pressed into the coin.

It looks like moved metal caused by some form of damage after the coin left the Mint.

Thanks,
Bill
