Hi Guys After waiting a long time I could eventually get three coin on top of my want list with fairly good price in an auction today. 1. a three faced sasanian coin although not in great condition but suffices to fill the gap in my sassanian collection plus the hoard patina on it makes me more convinced of its authenticity. Its good to mention that this is a highly faked series and once I got fake one from an auction but could return it without any problem. 2. A tetradrachm of Augustus 3. My first roman gold coin which is from time of Tiberius

Nice pickups, especially that aureus. It's unusual to see one of those so worn. It must have seen some serious circulation. Makes me wonder how it was used.

Congrats very nice pick ups. I've never seen a Sasanian coin like that - that is a wonderful and unique looking coin. I have to say, I have no gold yet

Even with the damage to the Varhran II it has excellent detail you may be able to clean off some of the crude with an acetone soak. The other coins are very nice also.

Thanks Travel and Ron! Yes that varhan II I was badly looking for it. I got one last year from a major auction house but turned out to be a well made fake after I showed it to Robert Kokotailo he told he it was suspicious and I was able to return it. This one although it has some horn silver but as you said it has sharp details on portrait and the horn silver itself makes me more confident of authenticity of it. I prefer always an authentic coin in lower condition to a nice XF coin which is fake. and plus this 3 faced sasanian coins are fairly rare to come by in auctions.

Nice coin Ron! May I know where did you get it from? Was it very high price? Yours the condition is better although it is holed but details are good.

Very nice! I had been eyeing that Tiberius myself. It's seriously tempting to save extra to drop $2k on an aureus of his, rather than $800 on a denarius I would be happy with. I also have a Bahram II, picked up @ Numismatik Naumann for about $250 after fees and all. I also bought the "collection starter" lot of Sassanian drachms. It has at a minimum a very nice looking Jamasp, Ardashir III, and the description mentions Hormizd V.

@Fin235 very nice sasanian coin you have with good price. I got mine for 90 plus fees which is amazing I am so happy I was ready to put up to 250 for it but seems no one bid on it except me which was awesome! I totally agree with you on saving for a aureus. I myself got a tribute penny denarius of tiberius (Image attached) I got it last year from Forum coins for 700 USD. But now got this gold one for 1000 which is amazing comparing to what I paid for the denarius .

That is a fine tribute penny, I could only afford a drachm of Tiberius, I'm happy with it and only paid $130. It was one of my first pick ups and I thought it was a denarius LOL.
