This coin is one of six Greek Imperial coins I have purchased recently from a local coin dealer. He usually sells hammered stuff so I got these unidentified. I am only going to post one as I would like some pointers and then will try and id the others myself. I know the letters are very clear but I have always had to ask about these coin types.

27mm and just shy of 12 grams.

Thats a very nice tetradrachm. You might want to check that green stuff; it is silver, but these have a high percentage of copper in them and bronze disease is still an issue in them.

For greek legends, I read as much as I can with the greek I know, then match it to varieties listed. This one says AVTOK K M IOVΛI ΦIΛIΠ (PHILIP) ΠOC CEB // ΔHMAΡX EΞOYCIAC YΠA TO Δ / ANTIOXIA SC. Putting the reverse legend through google translate give you 'MAJOR POWER DEPUTY' - I suppose that means they are probably titles.

I make this Prieur 426.

In response to "checking the green stuff" here are some blow ups of his photos. If they are raised they could be surface deposits but if they go under they could be core issues. Either way nice strike on the sharp letters!

Thank you all for the advice again. The green on this coin is all above the surface but the spot at 1 o'clock on the reverse does need treating.

found this little snippet on the web :-

[From the Latin name Sebastianus which meant "from Sebaste". Sebaste was the name of a town in Asia Minor, its name deriving from Greek σεβαστος (sebastos) "venerable" (a translation of Latin Augustus, the title of the Roman emperors). According to Christian tradition, Saint Sebastian was a 3rd-century Roman soldier martyred during the persecutions of the emperor Diocletian. After he was discovered to be a Christian, he was tied to a stake and shot with arrows. This however did not kill him. Saint Irene of Rome healed him and he returned to personally admonish Diocletian, whereupon the emperor had him beaten to death.
Due to the saint's popularity, the name came into general use in medieval Europe, especially in Spain and France. It was also borne by a 16th-century king of Portugal who died in a crusade against Morocco.]
