stoneman227 Pillar of the Community United States 2376 Posts	Posted 11/16/2018 11:46 pm Sometimes the greater the amount missing from a planchet, the weakness of the design elements adjacent to the missing section will be less noticeable. The selling point of most all incomplete planchet coins for me is what I like to think of as reverse fading of the rim . The rim will fade away from the clip , moving towards the center of the coin as it travels away from the clip. Report this Post to the Staff

coop Bedrock of the Community United States 62064 Posts	Posted 11/17/2018 3:03 pm Sometimes the edge can be ragged, but on the zinc coins you can tell if they are real or fake because of the plating over the edge of the clip. If it is there is's real, if not, altered.
