E and V - Why is this a genuine clip in your opinion?

Looks correct to me. On the large clips, the Blakesly effect can be weak or missing.

Looks to me like it's been in a sheet metal shear. There is no weakness in the O N & G, the weakness in the UN & ST is common on memorials.

Sometimes the greater the amount missing from a planchet, the weakness of the design elements adjacent to the missing section will be less noticeable.
The selling point of most all incomplete planchet coins for me is what I like to think of as reverse fading of the rim . The rim will fade away from the clip , moving towards the center of the coin as it travels away from the clip.

Sometimes the edge can be ragged, but on the zinc coins you can tell if they are real or fake because of the plating over the edge of the clip. If it is there is's real, if not, altered.
