I looked at a lot of these coins and was beginning to think there were two types, the difference in the shield size being an indicator of a particular mint, mine being the smaller type with central stud but cant find any reference to it? ... Kushanshah Pillar of the Community United States 1554 Posts	Posted 11/21/2018 10:55 am It is not that there was a great difference in silver content between coins issued at any given point in time but that the coins issued earlier were better than those issued later.
