Why is this coin selling for $150? Is it because of the 75k mintage? How many 2018 San Francisco proofs will be minted this year?

Mintage is a total of 125k for the 2017-S proof ASE, consisting of 50,000 in the limited proof set and 75,000 in the congratulations set. I recently (last earlier this week) bought a NGC PF-69 for $99, which is about as good a deal out there, but you have to search for them because prices are all over the map. The mint has an unlimited mintage on the 2018-S proofs, and has already sold more than the 2017-S.

Yes, as jimbucks explained mintage is 125k. The "going rate" was about $150 ish but I'm starting to see that number drop some.

You can get them in PCGS PF-69 for $95 with free shipping on ebay.

That is a DEAL! I've bought from this Seller before, and would buy from again. He has these in 2 different PCGS labels if that matters to you.

Update: I couldn't resist and bought one of each of the above. Might buy more.

This was a frustrating coin for me as I collect the ASE as a series. Sense 1995 I have bought the proofs from the mint directly but this was in a package that sold out to the the investors in one day I worked that day and I was locked out. Then it was available in an over priced silver proof set where I already had all the silver proofs other than this ASE. I had to get one from ebay in a NGC holder to complete my collection last year.

Muddler,
Unless you bought the 1995-W proof from the mint with the gold proof set, I would think that issue would be even more frustrating, or do you mean you have been collecting all the proofs issued since 1995?

I was referring to individual proof coins purchased yearly from the mint. The 1995 w is out of my range as of now.
