Counterfeit.

There is only one variety for that year and this ain't it. Stars are too large, star 1 too close to the bust, spacing on the stars too close, 1 in date too tall and thin. On the rev the leaf point below the second T in STATES should be below the A, the point of the highest leaf should be just right of the serif of the second S, the leaf point below the F in OF should be just left of the center of the upright. There are other problems as well.

Can't argue with any of the above, of course, but would like to point out that Half Cents are numbered by Cohen variety, not Newcomb variety (which is for Large Cents.)

Hopefully you can return it or didn't lose much money on its purchase.
