Hello, I am attempting to identify this coin. The best I can tell the four numbers on the back correspond to 1944 but I think I'm wrong. Can somebody steer me in the right direction on this coin?

Correct date, but wrong calendar. Check out this link from numista:

I searched 1944 Indian Princely on Numista before posting this and nothing came up! So then just now I searched 1944 Princely and it's right there! Just in case anyone ever has the same problem with that search engine.

Good tip @rm210! I used the search terms SWORD and PRINCELY STATE to find a coin of Baroda looked very similar and then searched on BARODA to find your exact coin.

Spence, that's a good tip also. The sword was a good identifier but I never thought of entering that as part of the search criteria. In your experience does that work with other designs on a coin? Like if you have a reasonable idea of where the coin is from to narrow the search and then enter castle, sun, moon, etc.

Yes almost always. The folks at numista seem to do a good job including major design features in the searchable text of the descriptions.
