closer inspection of the coin there is weakness in strike on both sides.
the stars all have centers visible. the drape around the bust is pretty defined as well as the ear and LIBERTY. on the reverse the denomination as well as the raised lettering is sharp and defined. I can see why the graded it as a 40

You got lucky you dirty dog! Just kidding. I'd buy the XF grade even if it's not a strong one. It is a nice piece for sure.

I'd have no problem with XF-40 on this one.
