It was a small lot with a lot of watchers and strong bidding competition. I put in a bid on the strong side of middling and forced myself to look away so I wouldn't make a bid I would regret later. To my shock, I had won the lot! And I am very much in the doghouse with my wife until I get the collareral buys sold off First up is the prize pig of the lot: Roman Imperial AE Sestertius Divus Augustus commemorative 36-37 AD, under Tiberius Obv: DIVO AVGVSTO SPQR, Divine Augustus seated, atop cart drawn by four elephants, each with rider Rev: TI CAESAR DIVI AVG F AVGVST PM TR POT XXXIIX around large SC RIC 68 Funny thing about rare, attractive and desirable coins - they seem to exchange hands a lot, and leave a paper trail wherever they go! Apologies for the pictures, I owe you all a re-shoot in better lighting than my desk lamp. In hand it's a solid gVF with a glossy charcoal patina and a nice high relief portrait. Phew!
