Neither a DDO or a RPM. All the affected devices are showing Machine Doubling. Reduction of those devices. Note the areas your seeing as doubled, they are flat, shelf like. Showing a single color, other than a contour which normal devices should have. Note the one side of the devices is flat, the opposite side is giving a light to dark look because the normal contour is there. MD removes contour and reduces the size of the normal devices:

Without better pics I'm sure it appears as Strike Doubling, my apologies. I checked on V.V. The S and T of TRUST show serifs identical to varietyvista along with very minor doubling on the E of WE. Don't concur with your opinions as the D over D is clearly stage B with clear repunched mintmark. Always appreciate help one these die varieties but will take this one tounge in cheek. I'm surprised that even with these photos your not seeing it?

Here is a side by side of the op's coin and mine. I want to say yes and no at the same time. A fair amount of glare in the op's pic.

Sorry about the glare, to my knowledge the coins not plated. Ordered $60 in junk from JMBullion and received $10.00 Mercs, $17.00 Walklibs, $3.00 BenF half's, and $30.00 unc JFK's. That was a nice treat, all the JFK's were MS62-63 with 3 or 4 MS64's. In the lot was another JFK rpm northwest but its to tight to get a decent pic. I didn't see the doubling on ST of Trust until I was on V.V. trying to match the rpm. There is no die mark from eagles talon to star but MM matches the 501. Pretty awesome strength of the D over D and neat to find one in a junk silver lot. Thanks for the comparison photos and insight everyone.

Try comparing the edges with another 1969 half dollar. You might be able to tell if it was plated from that? There should be a small dark color on the normal edge of that year. If that is missing and shiny there, it may have been plated. I see a lot of bumps on your coin that usually indicates a poor plating job.

Plating? Aha another old time trick I need to watch out for. My other oldtime trick coin I discovered was a 1916 D Lincoln Cent I bought raw with wax used to hide a nasty scratch. I dipped it in acetone before putting it in a flip and walla! wax gone and a ugly scratch across bust revealed after years as a poser. In today's age it strikes me odd when I encounter deception. It leaves me with more questions than answers. Remnants of Snake oil salesmen, interesting. What the heck would these rascals plate these coins with and why? I remember the mail order adds in boys life and Fingerhutt selling "rare old coins for $1.99" you got a weatie,Indianhead, V nickel and a Merc dime. The internet has changed everything. Fagan from Oliver Twist comes to mind. Did any of these people ever get rich? Thank goodness for the TPG's Ha,it cracks me up imagining basement mail order coin Laboritories. It must have been the wild west in the 70's dealing in coins.
