Quote: . Not sure what luster has to do with grading circulated coins... Uhhmm what? A coin can be circulated and still have luster, if you've been using most togs as grading references, than they're all over the place. With all do respect this is grading 101, a coin is considered circulated if it have at least some wear on the high point, a coin need have at least 50% of its original lustre to be considered AU, when you get down to EF-40 is when lustre really stops playing a part in the grade (as most coins in these grades don't have any).

So you're saying that if there is enough wear on a coin to warrant a EF-40 grade, but there is luster, a TPG is going to bump the grade up to AU-55?

A coin can't have wear without lustre disturbance, if a coin has full lustre for example, but has less detail than other examples, than that has to do with strike issues/weaker strikes Most collectors treat weak strikes differently than circulation wear, although lots of times weak strikes are mostly only discernable on coins EX-45 and up.

Am I the only one who thought this coin to be low ms? I was thinking honestly ms62, maybe a weaker strike. Reverse looks great, king portrait I like to see some more photos on different angles, maybe some cleaning only on one side of the coin, Observe to the right of the on the kings neck. Luster is there, to me It looks MS though!
