I read hundreds of posts about possible errors on coins, some look major other hardly noticeable. What exactly are the truly rare, collectible, and valuable errors ?
Right now I have approximately 13,000 Lincoln cents that I have to go through, it seems like every other cent has some form of flaw. Frankly I look at the newer non copper pennies and to be honest even the freshly struck cents aren't very impressive to me as a long time collector of Lincoln Cents. What is even more disturbing is after a few years these new cents start to deteriorate and don't look good at all. So for the most part I ignore them.
So if you had to list the top 10 errors to look for, that may still be found in circulation what would they be.
Like I said earlier, if I kept every cent that had some form of flaw, of the 13,000, I would have probably 5,000 keepers.
I hope this is not too general of a question, if it is, then maybe some suggestions would help.
Thanks.

You can read for months here.

Some books tell you about what to look for, but the only ones getting rich on them are the writers of the books. Some die events are just worth what it says on the coin. Some find them interesting, but I'm a variety coin specialist. (Mostly cents bout other doubled dies that are interesting)

But you are the collector. You pick what you like. If you are into Youtube Videos, take a look at the numbers on my signature line below/ (1-5) Those are subjects of videos that are in segments. I call it "Coin Fishin'. what to keep, what to throw back."

True errors are really really hard to find in circulation, but I think these 3 might make your top 10 list.

1982 D small date copper (this is an error)

1983 D struck in copper (this is and error)
1992 D Close AM cent (variety)
1992 Close AM cent (variety)
1972 DDO #1 (variety)
1999 Wide AM cent (variety)
1995 DDO (variety)
1983 DDR (variety)
1984 DDO double ear (variety)
Off the top of my head that is probably the top 11, The top 6 are probably pretty much impossible (although a newbie did find a 1992 Close AM recently) the other 5 do turn up from time to time.
