I found this nickel going through some change a while back and have looked alot of places and haven't found anything. The thing that caught my eye was the rim being there, while the some of the details are gone.
What is the weight? If it is under weight, then it might be a thinned planchet or someone worked the coin over. If the weight is normal, then it might be a struck through. So weight would help first.
I don't believe it is worth getting graded. It is probably worth a bit above face value (maybe $2-5), but I am unsure how to label it. The flattening of the rim (if that is what it is) throws my theory off. It almost looks like a tapered planchet, but if it is normal weight and the reverse looks normal, it can't be.
I think more pics are in order, especially of the blank area on the reverse and where it meets other devices and/or the rim.
