Close-up of date area might help, but otherwise I'd agree, not gradable.

Larger photo of the date area shot on an angle so the lighting can bring up anything raised on the surface.

Type 1s minted 1851-1853 and an 1851O.

11M 1851s
151K 1851Os (which this is not)
18M 1852s
5.5M 1853s

(from memory)

As a real rough guess, I might be seeing a ghost of a 3.

Not gradable... To be gradeable, you have to be able to prove What it is. So an 1851O even in that condition might be gradable... but not this coin.

Thank you, to all who provided feedback, for your help! I'm new to this whole deal. I'm learning it takes time to really look at the coins and get a sense for the quality. BStrauss looked hard enough he thought he might see a three. And he did that for a stranger.

Thank you for being patient with me, I'm just a novice and am trying to learn to better educate my son, who has recently taken an interest. So, your comments and feedback have been most helpful. I'll post a few more coins we've found. Would appreciate the continued feedback and education.
