Can the experts here check out my posting. I cant find any reference to an 1884 CC DDR but it looks like one in my limited expertise.

Hi,
A coupla things. It's tough to tell if it's a doubled die or not from the pictures. They are too small.

The coin looks like it has been dipped and not properly rinsed. That's the milky white coloration that you can see on the surface of the coin. There are also fingerprints.

As to the doubling, dies for Morgan dollar coins had to be hubbed numerous times to bring up the details. Die doubling on Morgans is seen fairly often.

I hope you didn't pay too much for this coin. In my opinion, under 200 you did fair. Under 180 you did better. More than 200, I might not have done it and waited for a problem free coin.

Your right foundinrolls, after enlargement. I think the scanner creates the impression of doubling.

PS paid 200.00

Do you think it would be a good Idea to take it out of its holder and dip in acetone? to clean the fingerprints?
