These 2 were in 4 rolls of junk quarters I recently purchased. Nice treat finding these. Out of 160 Quarters in the lot 58 were 1964 so I am surprised at the odds. Terrible grading quarters and opinions certainly welcome on grade. Notice the die crack that runs horizontally along bottom of bust on both examples. Thanks for looking.

Nice find! Not the best pictures but those are some nice examples. A little acetone might clean them up a bit. I can see hair curls and breast feathers. Those die crack are common on these things. EF+

Finished going through the lot of 160 quarters and these other 4 type B reverses were in them. Pretty decent score 6 Type B's out of 160 isn't bad, pretty ruff shape on these 4. How scarce are these? Or do people just miss them?

A couple of years ago, CoinWeek had a 3 part article on The TYPE B Proof Reverse Washington quarters of 1956-1964. Part 3 gave the author's opinion on rarity. I had five rolls of Ag Washingtons stashed away and had never searched them for this variety. Out of my 5 rolls, 69 quarters were 56-64 Philadelphia's. These two were Type B reverses

Can you give us a side by side comparison A vs B. I'm having trouble seeing the differences.

The easiest way to spot the difference is to look at the gap between the E and the S in states. The normal business strike reverse is Type A with the narrow gap. The Type B reverse has a wider gap. You can also look at the leaves at the tip of the arrows and above the A in Dollar. There's an excellent document by Jose Miguel Gallego that goes into all of the reverse die varieties of the Washington quarter.
