I collect doubled columns and have quite a few, approx 650 diff.
But, dbld cols in the area of the head, both #6 and #7 are eluding
me completely. If anyone else out there collect these things, I
want to ask if you are able to find them. I've been thinking the
doubling doesn't show up in the head area (shoulder to head, head only, head and above, and above head only). May I have some input?
Most numerous to me is foot to shoulder areas, especially ankle to knee, ankle to hand, places like this.

I've come across hundreds here too.. just no "head area or above" have not been seen here..maybe they don't exist..though I've some doubled and tripled examples; all are from the shoulder or Below..

errorfinder, thanks: I made a chart with the 45 different positions I use and call them , ie: LDC-08 for left dbld col
ankle to hand, or RDC-38 for right dbld col head only. I have
nearly everything but the head area. 2004, 05, 06 are most numerous of the dbld cols, then 2007 really slacked off big time. 2008's have not yielded any for me yet, mainly because I have not even plucked a full roll of plains from circ yet.
Have found maybe four rolls of D's. I shall keep searching.
I do approx 300 rolls per month searching.

go to coppercoins site, do a die search, input the year 2008, and you will find the coin I submitted that has doubled columns. It is the only one they have so far for 2008. It is a Denver mint.

I have noticed that most of these show at or below the shoulder, and most are on the right side (col 7). Other positions, for unknown reasons, are more scarce.

Wrongalot: I've seen the one on coppercoins. I just haven't seen very many 08D's here at all and all the 08 plains I have found came from a brinx box I got from my daughter in Columbia
MO. I found 30 in 50 rolls. I reckon I'll be content with what I find now, maybe will see some in the head area someday.
Thanks for yours and Chuck's input. I have only found 9 each doubled columns on the 07P and D.
