I'm not that well versed in lowball coins and what kind of premium I should be looking at. I have a specific example to discuss.

This 1851 Half Dime is the lowest graded coin of its kind and the only one graded AG3 from NGC or PCGS.

Its not a PO1 but I figured the fact that someone sent this thing in for certification and was the only one to have it graded has to count for something?

I love the coin and love the dark tarnish that years of circulation have done to it.

Down to the brass taxes. Am I looking at a regular $10 coin here or would I be able to sell it to the right person at a premium.

A Bit about why I am asking at the bottom cause I dont want to bore you. I am trying to start dealing in US coins and have been successful with the modern sets and designs but I lack a lot of the finesse for gauging prices on things that aren't just about the grade. Toning, Lowball, Low Population, and error/varities are all new to me. Any help with this is appreciated.

I think you're looking at a regular $10 coin. Just because someone had it slabbed doesn't mean it will get better than raw price. This specific coin should be common in low grade and the pop report only indicates that low grade = low value. For other coins, however, low grade coins are very desirable. In those cases, it is because the coins were hoarded or not released to the public until much later, so finding well-circulated original examples is difficult (when compared to actual mintage).

I use ebay as an additional resourse to determine market value ranges for coins. In this case, SOLD listings indicate that $10 is a decent price.

Best of luck in your venture!

There's usually some premium for that, but it doesn't mean it will be much or significant.

That said Lowball premiums are overwhelmingly for things that are hard to find circulated like moderns and Classic commens. Heavily circulated issues really have to be a PO1 to have a chance I believe and if there is evidence otherwise I do hope someone posts it

Doesn't look PO-1 or FR-2 to me. Not much of a premium over normal AG-3 value.
