The lettering on the left penny is very bold compared to the right. What could cause this?

PMD- post mint damage. Damage occurring after it left the mint. Also known as PSD. Post strike damage. Same meaning. Hope this helps. Happy hunting!

Whenever you see letters or wording in light blue,
just click on it and it will give you the meaning.
That's why an abbreviation was used.

The first cent is a 1982 P large date cent, the second cent is a 1982 D small date cent. There was an obverse design change that year and that is why there are two different obverse designs. The large date was the first design and the small date came second.
