1989-D LMC Grayish Silver Color?

Hello my coin geniuses!! I need help figuring out what happened to this 1989D LMC. It has some small areas of a copper-goldish color around rim and on top of a few letters but the remainder of the coin is like a dull gray -silver color. I hope the photos are clear for you if not I'll post more.

It looks like that all the copper plating has been removed. Cents after 1982 were changed from mainly being made out of copper, to mainly being made out of zinc. So basically all it is is the copper plating of the zinc cent removed, so you only have the zinc cent, no copper.
