I have one of these with the same date, as part of my World crown collection, Mine would grade 5 sheldon points below the example pictured.
EF-40.

I realize that European grading schemes are tougher than U.S., but based on what I see in CoinArchives https://www.coinarchives.com/w/resu...&results=100I am having a tough time seeing an EF grade for this one. IN particular, wear on hair and 10-15% of denticles nearly gone obv, wear to upper corners of shield and where banner crosses pillars rev. So I would put it high end of VF range (and I am wondering when @Indian will share opinions on the grades of these ).

Good point. How are you grading some of these coins, IGE?

Frog, I agree with VF and am thinking VF-30. It's been a number of years since I dealt with foreign crowns so need a reality check.

I've never seen that coin before. The obverse portrait is, well, amusing.

The king was 2 when he sat (squirmed?) for that portrait.
I used to have a Puerto Rico coin from about 10 years later, where indeed the portrait looked like a 12 year old. The coins of those reigns are fascinating ... maybe worthy of a thread.
There was also Edward VI of ENgland, who ascended the throne at 9 1/2 but never made it to adulthood, and CHarles III of Lorraine, who ascended the throne at 2, and like Alfonso XIII of Spain, has coinage through 4 or 5 portraits from child to adolescent to adult.

There were three different portraits for Alfonso XIII, this being the first. I need to pick up the other two also.
