Hello all,
Can someone tell me about this coin? The date "8" is open on it's top and the first "2" looks to be a double strike.
I have found two more like it on the web but nobody mentions it as being an error coin. Should I assume this to be common?
As a side question, I have noticed that there are several 1822's with the last "2" struck over a "1". Is that also a fairly common strike?

@fplagge,in looking at numista (perhaps one of the sites that you found as well), I also see the same open 8 and double-topped 2. It looks like about 71,000 were minted, but the 2/1 overdate only represents a portion of those.
