yes yes yes. I'm really kind of surprised that I'm finding anything at all lately. there's a stalled front draped over florida. it's not moving and looks like there's nothing moving it anytime soon, which equals rain being funneled relentlessly over the peninsula. the mainland gets considerably more rain than the keys as a whole, and the upper & middle keys tend to get more rain than the lower keys, but we've been getting some pretty good blasts lately, for well over a week now. I haven't been on hot dog duty in weeks, it's driving dana nuts. we've been rained off consecutive weekends and she just cancelled tonight. trying to make up for the shortfall elsewhere has been a challenge because this is the time of year when we get the late-summer slowdown, ie, not much work for me. the weather constantly delaying things or causing cancellations only exacerbates that. I find that I am stuck in my smelly little apartment much more than usual. the only thing that's keeping me going is finding money at night, at least it's giving me something to look forward to each night as well as what'll be coming in a couple months.

so, no hot dogs again tonight. I think this is the fourth consecutive rainy weekend. I look forward to feeding kitties & pickin' coins. one of the cats of a group that I feed near a bank had kittens weeks ago. the kittens have been emerging in recent weeks. I've counted six. I see them scampering through the rear parking area & drive, by the edge of the mangroves that cluster near a canal. they are just beginning to get some exposure to me. there's an adorable black & white tuxedo kitty that seems to be the boldest of them.

sorry for the weather- & cat-babble. if it stays dry tonight I'm hoping for another $1+ night. my running total getting close to finally cracking the $400-mark.

i always do my best to stay dry, but not getting blown away won't be a problem as there is absolutely no breeze at all. that means another sloppy, swampy night. humidity must be at least 90%. yuck.

i think my bird karma has been kicking in, or trying to. looking at my calendar notes, the past few weeks have been littered with rain days and consequently most of my better finds have been between the rain days.

last night I picked $1.40 in well-scattered change, including a tidy pile of twenty-nine cents at an air-vac.

Post-Your-Stories-&-Pix-Of-Found-Money

i also scored a sealed pint-sized styrofoam container of beans & rice (nothing fancy, just plain beans & rice) outside the winn-dixie, someone left it just outside the doors. this brings me to the bird karma.

several posts ago I mentioned having scored 5 beers. well, a few nights later I scored a big sack of taco bell grub that an uber eats driver left at winn-dixie. a few nights later I scored a dominoes pizza & garlic knots. there was even a note attached to the box: "hey man! this pizza is for you!" I'm not one to argue about free food.

i had wondered aloud several posts back about not having found much in the way of food & beverages, aside from bottles of water. I guess the muses heard that because all the aforementioned foods & beers showed up in between the rainy nights.

i think the bird karma kicked into gear just after my latest good deed for the week (see that thread in general discussion) where I summoned wildlife rescue for an injured small blue heron at 2am several nights ago. plus I have been getting into feeding the many birds hanging around my place.

additionally-- this is fun-- those same birds have been peppering the downstairs narcissist's glass table with poop, an unexpected treat. his table is beneath one of the trees those birds perch in. he deserves it. he's been a major pain for 5 years.

and I'm happy to report that last night's 15 zincolns topped-off a full roll, which just put my running total at the $400-mark, finally. I have a half-roll of quarters and a half-roll of dimes waiting to fill, which means I'm heading for $415 soon.

so it's been an interesting month despite all the rain.

black friday is coming. I can almost taste the gold & silver now...

tonight I picked $1.44, all well-scattered change, four cents more than last night. this is my 2nd consecutive $1+ night for the third time this month and 8th $1+ night of the month.
