Ok yes sorry for sending you on a wild goose chase then. Primaltrek is my go-to site for Chinese charms and yours has vaguely the same overall shape as a lock charm.

As I look at the piece more carefully, it might be useful to identify the two objects pictured, at least until we get someone who can read the characters. Also, I see a 31 counterstamp on one side. Sorry that I couldn't be of more help.
