Hello everyone, I have quite a few late Romans with a cross on the reverse. Most of which, only the cross is still visible. However, this one caught my eye because there is still a partial bust and legend remaining. Now from what I can see, based on the type of reverse, it is either, Arcadius, Honorius, Theodosius II or Valentinian III.
Here's what makes me think its Theodosius II or Valentinian III. I am pretty certain there is a wreath around the cross, therefore it would narrow it down to these guys.

Both have "PF" in their legends. Anyone care to take a shot?
Theodosius-II-Or-Valentinian-III-?

In any case I use this site quite often here are the links to the pages I used to narrow it down.

The PF is a title which modifies the AVG (PATER AVGVSTI, father of the Augusti), or perhaps a wholly separate set of titles (PIVS FELIX,pius and happy). In this case I assume it is the latter. In any case, they are almost never useful diagnostically due to their ubiquity, except for with rulers who were inconsistent in their usage (Gallienus, Carausius etc).

What is left appears to be -VS PF AVG, which is unfortunately common to all the possible issuers. However, we can see how long the legend is and it supports an attribution to Theodosius II, c.f. this example, also with the PF unusually far round the flan:

Theodosius-II-Or-Valentinian-III-?

I think the bust style is too fine to be a later ruler, while the legend is too short to be Valentinian III.

Ben, thank you very much for the lesson. I was hoping Valentinian III but I agree, most likely Theodosius II.
