I have several of these 1984 LMC's tht bare this texture that have been in my save to look later box. I have seen several comments about these as planchet errors, heat, chemical etc issues. I am assuming it has nothing to do with the die itself.

Actually the real issue is a poor rinse before planchets were plated. It was a while down the road, they found this to be an issue of zinc dust being plated onto the planchets.

Are these worth a save or drop them back into circulation?

Spendable. If you find a variety on one, Pass. If you find a variety on one with a plating split. Pass. Problem coins will be a harder sale after they age and breakdown even more.
