Looks like a lot of circulation damage, to me.

Looks like a very slight doubling of the date. I don't see a 3 either.

I see why you think you see a 3 under the 5, but I really believe that this coin has simply suffered circulation damage. Sorry to disappoint you.

Thanks to all who replied.
I know it has damage, but that doesn't affect the date.
It is double-struck - obviously - but the reason why I suggested it was struck over 1953 is that the left centre of a '3' seems to be peeping out from the left centre of the second '5'.
There is nothing like that on the FIRST '5'.

If the left center of the 3 was to stick out past the left center of the 5, you would also see the bottom and top of the 3 sticking out. The top and bottom of the 3 are more apt to stick out first.
