Do you ever wonder where the coins you find have come from? Sometimes when I find something old, say a 1920
Walking Liberty half for example, I look at the condition and wonder how many hands this coin has passed through. I look at the mint mark and wonder what states the coin passed through or how many times it has circulated through the cash flow system. Who held this coin-a president, Babe Ruth, an actor or celebrity? Was this coin circulated in World War 1 or 2, did it make a trip overseas? Was it used during the Great Depression and how did it survive the various silver meltdowns over the years? That's part of the beauty of finding old rare coins-the rich history that it brings to your imagination and the history you create by passing it down to future generations. Plus the thrill of the hunt is always exciting because you really never know what you will find in a roll!
