So called "Guardian Angel" medalion. There was a fad in the 1990s for these. I believe the idea was to slip one into a person's pocket or belongings to give them luck or protection. It was certainly lucky for the manufacturer.

Mine is stamped sterling, and appears to be, when the price of si;ver started to increase they switched to the brass token that are still sold today and still given out
