They both look genuine to me. There's no major reason to fake these.

@spruett001 : they look old steel coins. are they cooper coins ?

We need to know the weight. 2.7 grams if zinc plated steel core and 3.1 grams if copper. The copper ones were made in error,only a few minted.

In 1943 the U.S. mint produced zinc plated steel cents as they had to save the copper for the war effort . In the condition that those coins are in they are worth between $0.20 and $0.50 each retail .

It appears that the zinc plating has been breached.
If so it will serve only as a hole-filler.

In this deteriorated condition, they're probably not even worth a premium over face.

Real but not a big deal. Unless Copper and they sure don't look red to me.
