A friend of mine has this $10 AUD note with a AA prefix that is tiny. Initially I thought it may of somehow been printed in the smaller $5 AUD size, but closer inspection shows me otherwise. I've included photos to help indicate size and scale of this note. Any advise or info on this would be greatly appreciated. TIA

A counterfeit?
Aren't those bills plastic, if so, is there a way they could shrink with heat?

Yeah shrunk with heat is my guess.
Might have been discussed before? Not sure.

Doubt it was heated and shrunken, it more likely to be stretched when heated, and when compressed it will be wrinked (maybe it is but cant see from photos).

The idea you suggesting that it was printed on a different sized plastic, would mean there should be a design cutoff or there was something of a change that was recorded.

For me the most likely is that it is some sort of counterfeit note that just happen to be someone not getting the size right.

Hey there,
I agree with the others that it has something to do with heat. Sometimes when people leave notes in their clothes they get ironed. I haven't experienced this personally but I think it definitely makes sense

I find it very unlikely that, if it was indeed a genuine note that had shrunk, that it would have shrunk so uniformly and stayed in such a good condition ... but then again, if you were going to go to the trouble of producing a counterfeit note surely the first thing would be to get the sizing correct!

Have you checked that all of the anti counterfeiting security features that have built into this note are detectable? http://currencyguide.eu/aud-en/10aud-en.html

If it shrank it would be out of shape. The make-up of the note is different so would be the shrinking. The same amount of heat would effect different parts of the note in different ways.

Could of been a GST issue!

The Australian Polymer five dollar note came in two sizes. 129x65mm + 130x65mm. The short ten dollar note is 125mm. Could be? Could not be? The truth is I don't know until I put the note under UV-LED light. But I am thinking it,s image wizardry..
