Hello,
This penny is very deep for a penny is this a cap error or it has to be deeper? I'm working on resolution and sharpness but this the best I could get it so far.
Thank you for your help.
It is slightly thicker than my other 1944 pennies as well.

@Shabri, how does the diameter of this coin compare with a "normal" '44 cent?

Ok yes it is thicker, but is it also slightly smaller in diameter? My working theory is that your coin has been "smushed" along the edge, such as by spooning or as the result of being a so-called Dryer Coin for a short while. Others too will weigh in as they see this thread.

It is the same outside diameter as my other 1944 coins its just a bit thicker it seems. But OD is the same.
