Hi,
I have not been here in a while, but had the time yesterday to pick up some nickels at my new bank. The old bank was sold & the new one has been disappointing until now.

I found my first 50-D Jefferson nickel. This one has been in circulation for some time & is rather beat up, but at least I now have found one. I have read all the stories about the hoarding to drive up prices, are they true ? I also found a nice 52-S that has not been circulating as much as the 50-D.

Nice finds and congrats. No doubt most of the stories you've read about the '50D are true, a classic case of the bursting bubble that rivals the tulip craze and the Florida real estate mania.

That is the key date in the series and very challenging to find in circulation! Congratulations!
Rest in Peace

The 50-D is a great find. I had to give up and buy one to complete my set. The 52-S, IMO is an equally great find. I suppose it's not hard on the west coast, but here on the gulf coast finding a circulated S mintmark is a true rare find. I save any I find in any denomination just cause we never see them!

A 50-D with that much honest wear is a tough find. They usually get plucked from circulation before they see that much use.
