I went to my bank to get a box of pennies and I was the only customer at the time. The tellers were talking to me and I realized I had a chance to ask about Kennedy halfs. A teller said she would go to the vault to check. She came back and said they had 1400 rolls and how many do I want? As I stood there all wide eyed....I said $300.00 worth. I got my 30 rolls home and discovered I got all 1993 D's. I was disappointed at first because there would be no silver. But when I realized I had 30 rolls of uncirculated 25 year old coins I started to relax a bit. I sold 1 roll on ebay to see if there was a market and made a couple bucks but I am curious about what others here think about my situation. I haven't made up my mind about what do do with the rest?

It's up to you. If it's profitable to ebay them, then do that. If it's a hastle then return. If your making a profit after shipping and supplies then continue to sell if it's break even or negligable, return them to another branch. Or spend them, your billing companies will be thrilled.

I would try craigslist no fees and try selling them locally I've gotten rid of quite a few NIFCs and clad Eisenhowers this way just make sure to meet buyer in a safe public place lots of scammers and other human trash on craigslist

For Craig's list around here (Cleveland area) a scammer would be welcome compared to people being shot and even killed. But I guess it all depends where you live. In this area I have to stick with ebay. So you make a few dollars per roll - better than nothing and you can take your profits and buy more rolls.

Thanks for the replys I will give Craig's List a try. There is a police substation near my house that is set up for face to face sales. They claim to have a camera recording everything in front of the building. If a person agrees to the location...I'll bet it will a smooth transaction but I will keep my guard up.

Quote: Thanks Fistfull....I was wondering if I made the right choice when I picked them up. Note to self always buy them!! Well, what I truly meant was buy all $1400 worth, or their entire inventory of halves. Always buy them all. You see, even though 139 rolls may all be just other's picked-through dumps, roll # 140 might be solid silver. I have found numerous solid silver rolls that way, along with misc rolls in the mix that contained random silvers. You have nothing to lose, and bank personel will love you for it. (Of course, when applying CRH rule # 1, never dump where you eat.)

I was able to get $650.00 in Kennedy halfs. It was all they had at the time. I got about 10 more rolls of the 1993 D's and the rest were 1971 to 2000. I noticed red Mark's on every roll and realized they had been gone through already so I will have make the best of the situation and look for errors and cherry pick what I can. Just after I left the bank I got a phone call from the teller that helped me. He said "give me a call when you need more because he would order what I wanted" I will have to nurture that relationship. It was his idea to help me!!

The problem with ebay is that between ebay and Paypal, you're paying almost 15% in fees, plus a possible listing fee. I've had good luck selling things on Craigslist, but they weren't high-buck or popular, well-known things. They were usually things you wouldn't want to ship, like tires. (I sell stuff on ebay that I don't think is possible to sell anywhere else fairly quickly at a decent price, except maybe Etsy.) My main problem with Craigslist has been no-shows. The scammers were pretty obvious, usually saying by email that they were in another state and would pay with a high demonination cashier's check, so that I should wire them back the difference. Amazon.com will be lowering their seller's fees very soon.

Thanks Pauldog....I cringe when I see my ebay fee's but for now it seems to be the path of least resistance. I knew when I got in to this hobby it wasn't going to make me rich. I like the hunt and the thrill of finding something cool. Thanks USSID18 yea I couldn't believe what I was hearing. When the teller identified himself on the phone I figured I forgot something at the teller window. He quickly said "No I just wanted you to know we don't get Kennedy Halfs in very often and he would have to order them for me and how many would you like"? I still have to remind myself that is true

Quote:.I cringe when I see my ebay fee's Yeah - 10% and they even tag the shipping costs. On ebay the real winner is the USPS - the rates are crazy. I've sold things on there that I make 2$ and the post office makes 21$

Just be thankful the USPS rates aren't any higher, they have an annual operating loss, in 2017 in was almost 60 million dollars.
