USPS rates just went up this week, and now even First Class packages are priced by zone. Like before, the minimum shipping weight for packages is 4 oz, but now the next minimum is 8 oz, so now you pay the same to ship a 5 oz package as you pay for an 8 oz one.

What's odd is that the second ounce for envelope (non package) shipping is now a lot cheaper than before. I think this makes the "second ounce stamps" I have worth less than what I paid a couple of months ago. But my regular first class stamps are now worth a nickle more.

It depends on what you're selling, but I would much prefer selling almost anything on ebay to having a tooth pulled.

It's pretty easy to sell the same thing over and over on ebay, especially if the money is pretty good on that item, and it's fairly easy to ship. The work is in trying to sell a lot of different unique things, taking photos, editing the listings, etc., especially things where you don't make much money, and then discover that your shipping cost is a lot more than you expected.

It helps to be interested in and knowledgeable about the things you're selling. It makes the work more interesting, easier to answer questions and deal with buyers' problems with the item.
