I believe what you are referring to is caused by a slight misalignment of the planchet (the blank alloy) and striking dies or a shifting within the collar which holds the blank during striking. Remember, this happens thousands of times per minute which sometimes prevents them from being 100% square during that process. Overall, not a bad piece pulled from circulation. It seems that there is no premium for this until the misalignment is severe enough that some of the design elements start to fall off the edge. As noted, your is a very nice example though.
