Hello CCF,

I'm trying to determine why the mint mark looks strange. It doesn't seem to match any known varieties. Could this be mechanical, PMD or a unique variety?

Note what looks like a "D" to the south east of the "S". A line connects the middle portion on the "S". The mint mark also seems inverted/upside down.

Please share your thoughts.

Thanks!

The date is showing the same thing. So I feel it is part of Machine Doubling. Look neat, but there is not separation into two mint marks.

It's Machine Doubling, not an RPM. The size of the mint mark has been reduced. A true RPM never has the size reduced.
