When I was unpacking boxes of LWC's that have been packed away in a safe for appx 15 years I came upon this pair of 1943 LWC that I had graded by NTC in roughly 2001 or 2002. I have a bunch of later LWC's that I had graded by them, guessing they had a pretty cheap slabbing special and these were one's my oldest daughter would have had in her collection at the time, so I figured even a cheap slab was better than nothing for some of these later MS LWC's so she could still handle them. Just wanting some opinions on what the forum members think on the grades on these, I will post what NTC graded them at 17 years ago and see how legit they were for a TPG. *The scratch on the O in of on the 43D is on the case, not the coin. Well, just for fun, I'll say 65 on the '43 despite the reverse, and 66 on the '43D.

The 43 P looks a tad bit better than the 43 D. So....I'll go 66 on the P and 65 on the D.

PR-01 , I'm kidding, Unc. Details ED for the 1943 P, assuming the scratch on the F of 'Of' on the reverse is on the slab not the coin, 66+.

Here are the results! I thought it would be best if I just posted a picture of the NTC grades on the holders! I thought both were way over-graded at the time even. I think I originally thought MS63 & MS65 when I sent them in, not sure how they got a 67 on the '43 & really not sure why they were calling the 43-D a 66PL. The NTC holders have done a fair job of protecting the coins, but not sure that I would really trust any of the grades on the holders.

Huh, a bit over graded but still nice! I could see the P getting a 67

Love the PL designation on the 43D.

The PL was a nice touch on their part I thought, I just never really understood it! If anything it might have just been a little over the top in my opinion.
