Hello Everyone! Most of what I do surrounds around Ancient coins and Variety (error) coins. I am starting to get really interested in bills after finding some cool fancys as well as a couple errors. While searching ebay for Bills I noticed more than half of the bills were "almost" runs, repeaters, radar, etc. and people are bidding on them!

Do any of you keep the "almosts" ? Do you think it would be worth it to put up a lot of them to sell?

Just curious, I come across about 5 or so almosts a week...

Thanks!

To the OP: Generally speaking, saving "almost" notes doesn't make sense, especially with modern issues. But going way back, things were probably different!

You could keep them if you want. I know I wouldn't
as there are just too many out there.
I can't see anyone buying them at a premium.

I don't nor do I look for them.
I don't even look even for true fancy serial numbers.
My US paper money collection only contains $1 small size notes, all issues, all Federal Reserves including "star" notes, and all blocks.
So far I'm working heavily on 1963, 1963A and 1963B issues.
I've got a good start on all of the 2003 issues and trying to increase my 1969 issues.

Almost notes are simply that and nothing more in my mind. I spend them and keep looking.

There is a small market for them. We keep some in the shop and they generally go for about 2 to 5 times face depending on how "almost" they are. They do sell fairly well, though it may take a few weeks. If they don't in a month or so, we spend them.

I agree with scopru.

Thanks everyone! Like I said, I'm new to the bill thing, and right now I'm excited about getting anything, LOL. I have been stalking this board for a while, now decided to actually take the plunge...
