This was a blind ( unresearched) impulse buy. Once I received it I was quite chuffed to read about Alfons I, first Catalano-Aragonese King. Have I oriented each face correctly?

Summarised from MEC Vol 6 pages 117-120.

First Catalan-Aragonese King who consolidated his power in Aragon. His political machinations( including war) saw him delineate Aragons Boundaries. He also controlled Maritime Provence. He unified the coinages of Catalonia, Aragon and Provence.

Edit: seems he is better known as Alfons II.

@AK, I agree that this is a nice pick-up. I don't have the MEC, but this looks like C&C #1701 to me. The obv legend (on your left pic) is BARCINO, while the rev legend (on your right pic) is CI VI RE X. The mint is Barcelona.

Ok sorry, my reference is "Las Monesdas Espanolas: Del tremis al euro del 411 a nuestros dias" by Adolfo, Clemente, and Juan Cayon.

Maybe if I had called it C&C&C it would have been more clear?

Thanks, I tried to find C&C in the bibliography of MEC( way too many abbreviations here) and found I had many options.
