I keep all 1976 coins because it's the year my sister was born. This one has what looks like a metal dragged. Can anyone help explain to me?

@AF72, there are a few possibilities for a linear defect like this, including a die crack and the coin being struck through a piece of thread. Based on your last pic, which seems to show that the metal is raised slightly on the edge of the defect (by Washington's nose), but the defect is below the surface of the coin, I think that the most likely scenario is that this is just a scratch.

If it is raised, it would be a die crack.
Looks like it is rim to rim too. Nice find.
