This is just an experiment to try to understand the American graduation scale. I have observed that although there are tables of equivalence with European scales, usually values do not match.
How would you graduate this one? I will tell you Spanish graduation later, so as not to influence your opinion, and we could draw some conclusion
Where are the high points on this coin? I have a few low-mid grade and I always look at the reverse crown (top jewels) and ribbons (lower) on pillars. I also look at the beard and hair on the obverse. I don't see wear on this one. I do believe the fields have been wiped, though. That being said, I'll go AU-58 just because, overall, I don't see UNC pop.
On Spanish 5 pesetas crowns, the key points to see wear are the head of the lion and the top-left corner of the first division of the shield (the castle one). However, be careful with this second one because a lot of times it has simply weak struck. The next parts to show wear are the grenade (bottom of the shield), the lis flowers (center of the shield) and the crown. I think that's interesting for all of spanish crowns collectors.
The observe depends a lot of the portrait, in this particular one is the moustache and this part of the beard:
Also the ear and the hair are good points to see wear in most of 5 pesetas portraits
This coin is uncirculated, however, its grade is penalized by those scratches on the front... But as this post is more active than the other ones, I still not going to tell you how did I got it :)
