I'm going to assume it's MDD. Hopefully, this will help other newbies tell the difference. It's really hard sometimes!

This is Machine Doubling damage, but turn the coin over and see if there is any real doubling on the IN GOD WE TRUST. There is a nice DDO possible.

Your pictures make it clear and can be used as a teaching tool. If you start on the surface of the coin and you look at the doubling. The doubling is almost step like. Look at the lower portion of the C....Imagine stepping from the field of the coin onto the first "step" (the doubled looking spot) and then onto the second "step" placing you on the upper surface of the C.

We say the doubling is shelf like but I like to describe it as step like.

I hope that helps,

Have Fun,
Bill

I was pretty confident about the ONE CENT being MDD, but the USofA had me thinking.

Here's the IN GOD WE TRUST. I don't see anything...

The left leg of the 'W' and the 'R' in trust? Also look at the left wing of the 2nd 'T' in trust.

I see some things at those spots, but don't have any experience to compare them to.
